Want to make your bankroll last and play slots without burning through your money? You’re in the right place. This guide shows you exactly which slots let you spin for as little as 1 cent, names the best low-stakes titles from major providers, and explains the bet math so no casino can catch you out.
What Is the Lowest Bet on Online Slots?
Most mainstream online slots have a real minimum of about $0.20 / £0.20 / €0.20 per spin – not one cent, even when the game advertises “penny” stakes. That’s because the 1-cent figure is the coin value per line, and the game multiplies it across every active payline.
But genuine 1-cent-per-spin play does exist. It lives on slots with adjustable paylines, where you can switch lines off and play just one. That’s where the games below come in.
The Lowest of the Low: True 1-Cent Slots
These titles reach a genuine $0.01 per spin. Most do it by letting you drop to a single active line at the lowest coin value; a few are single-line classics where a penny is simply the whole spin.
BGaming – Adjustable-Line Slots with Strong RTPs
These popular BGaming titles all use adjustable paylines, so you can drop to a single active line at a $0.01 coin value and spin for a true 1 cent:
- West Town – Wild West theme, free spins, and a Royal Flush 15x multiplier
- Platinum Lightning – Greek-mythology slot; betting range starts at the floor and scales up to about $1
- Platinum Lightning Deluxe – 3D sequel with full-reel wilds in the bonus, 5×3 layout, 1-25 lines
- Lucky Lady’s Clover – high RTP with a big 10,000x max multiplier
- Fire Lightning – one of the higher-RTP options here, up to 1,000x
- Aztec Magic Deluxe – Aztec-themed classic

Platinum Lightning Deluxe (BGaming): dropping to a single line at a $0.01 bet value gives a Total Bet of exactly 0.01 USD

How the 1-cent spin actually works: take West Town. It has 9 adjustable paylines and a coin value starting at $0.01. Play all 9 lines and your minimum is $0.09 per spin; drop to a single line and you spin for $0.01. Same principle across the whole list – you control the cost by controlling how many lines you switch on.
The trade-off to know: one active line means only that one line can pay. You’re spinning cheaply, but you’re covering far less of the reels, so wins land less often. It’s a real way to make a small deposit last a long time – just go in knowing you’ve narrowed your chances of hitting a combination on any given spin.

Red Hot 50 (True Lab) at its 0.01 EUR minimum – and unusually, that single penny covers 10 active lines rather than one
Ultra-Low, But Not Quite a Penny ($0.02–$0.07)
Still very budget-friendly. Most of these are fixed-line or scatter/cluster games where the minimum is locked, so you can’t drop them to a cent – but they start low.

Is It Really a Penny a Spin?
The total you stake on a single spin comes from three settings multiplied together:
Coin value × bet level (coins per line) × active paylines = total bet per spin
- Coin value (coin size / denomination) – the money per unit, usually from $0.01 up to $0.50, $1 or more.
- Bet level (coins per line) – how many coins you place per line, often 1 to 10.
- Paylines / ways – how many winning lines are live.
The single most common mistake is reading the coin value ($0.01) as the cost of a spin. It isn’t. A few real examples of how the multiplication bites:
- Creature from the Black Lagoon (NetEnt), 20 paylines: $0.01 × 20 = $0.20 minimum per spin.
- Fluffy Favourites, 25 paylines: £0.01 × 25 = £0.25 minimum with all lines on.
- A 15-fixed-line slot at £0.02, bet level 1: 15 × £0.02 × 1 = £0.30.
Note that two settings can produce the same total (e.g. $0.20 × 1 coin vs. $0.10 × 2 coins across 20 lines) – and the per-line win math is identical either way.
Where “penny slots” comes from: land-based machines once charged a penny per payline, so five lines cost five cents. Online, the same multiplication applies – which is why a “1¢ slot” with 50 fixed lines actually costs $0.50 a spin. The games that keep the total genuinely low are classic, low-payline slots and adjustable-line titles.
How to Find the True Minimum Bet on ANY Slot
Don’t trust the “from 1¢” marketing. Do this instead, every time:
- Open the bet selector and set the coin value / stake to its lowest setting.
- Read the “Total Bet” field on the spin bar. That number is what actually leaves your balance each spin – ignore the per-line figure.
- Check whether paylines are adjustable. A “Lines” control you can lower means you can reduce your spin cost by playing fewer lines. No such control means the lines are fixed and the total bet is your real floor.
- Open the paytable / info (“i”) screen to confirm min and max bet, RTP, and the number of lines or ways.
Minimum bets, RTP, and available paylines can differ between casinos for the same game, so always confirm in-game – some titles above are set to a $0.10 total floor at certain operators with no single-line option. Much “best penny slots” content online is affiliate marketing; this guide names games to show how minimums work, not to steer you to any operator.
