Pragmatic Play has added a new rule variant to its live blackjack suite: Split After Split. The feature is now live across all of the provider’s Privé Lounge Blackjack tables.
In standard blackjack, a player dealt a pair can split it into two separate hands. Split After Split extends that option a step further – after the initial split, each resulting hand can be split again if it is dealt another matching card, turning a single bet spot into as many as four hands. Aces are the one exception: pairs of aces cannot be re-split.
The addition gives players more decision-making opportunities and greater flexibility mid-hand, particularly those following basic strategy, the set of mathematically optimal plays based on a player’s cards and the dealer’s up card.
Split After Split arrives alongside a second new option, Face Down Double Down, which has also gone live on Privé Lounge Blackjack tables. Both features are explained in the in-game Quick Guide.

Building on Double Down After Split
The launch continues a run of rule enhancements Pragmatic Play has brought to its blackjack range. In June 2025, the provider introduced Double Down After Split across all of its blackjack titles – including Classic Blackjack, Speed Blackjack, and Privé Lounge Blackjack – as part of a wider user-interface overhaul.
That feature allowed players to double their bet on one or both hands created by a split, and Pragmatic Play said it could lift the return to player (RTP) to as much as 99.59% in certain variations when combined with basic strategy. The accompanying UI update brought a refreshed look, a larger video display area, and a streamlined pre-decision flow.
What It Means for Strategy
For players who follow basic strategy, Split After Split is a modest shift in the player’s favour – it extends the value of a good split rather than rewriting the fundamentals. A few practical points:
- Splitting eights gets even better. Basic strategy already calls for splitting a pair of 8s in almost every situation; being able to split again when a third eight lands lets players keep breaking up a weak 16 into fresh hands instead of being stuck with it.
- The aces exclusion caps the upside. Re-splitting aces is one of the most valuable moves in blackjack, so barring it here means the feature’s gains come entirely from lower-ranked pairs. Players used to re-splitting aces elsewhere shouldn’t expect it at Privé Lounge tables.
- It stacks with Double Down After Split. With both features live, a single spot can be split, re-split, and then doubled on the resulting hands – plenty of upside, but also more exposure per round.
- Mind the bankroll. Each split and double adds a bet equal to the original. Turning one hand into four and doubling some of them can multiply a round’s stake several times over, so it’s worth sizing the base bet with that ceiling in mind.
None of this changes the core advice: make the initial split-or-not decision on basic strategy, and treat the re-split simply as an extra chance to apply the same logic when a matching card appears.

- Where the chart says don’t split, play the pair as its total: 5 - 5 as a hard 10 (double vs 2-9, otherwise hit), 10-10 stand, 9 - 9 stand – and the rest (2s, 3s, 4s, 6s, 7s) hit.
- This grid assumes Double Down After Split is available, which is standard on Pragmatic Play’s blackjack tables – it makes splitting 2s, 3s, 4s and 6s slightly more attractive.
- Basic strategy lowers the house edge but never removes it; no chart guarantees a winning session.
